Who Doesn’t Like Running Around Hitting Things???
Once upon a time, there was a lovely group of tennis princesses. These princesses played very good tennis, wore extremely beautiful tennis outfits and truly loved running around and hitting things. It happened one starry summer night after an appropriate amount of Chardonnay, that these princesses, who were tasked with raising money for their mini princesses and princelet’s school, came upon the idea of “Black Tie Tennis”.
The tennis princesses thought long and hard and let the creative juices flow, again with an appropriate amount of Chardonnay, and hatched a plan.
There would be competitive tennis, fabulous food, prizes and of course the appropriate amount of Chardonnay.
I look back very fondly on this memory from years past. We all love our children passionately so we do whatever it takes to nurture them. Nurturing comes in many forms, this time it meant raising money for their school so that programs were enriched and teachers salaries enhanced.
As we raise our children in a turbulent greater world, it is essential to keep our smaller world stable and contained. To live narrowly is often to live broadly. So while school fundraisers and Chardonnay and tennis may seem frivolous, it is these kinds of things that in fact create an environmental cocoon in which our children can thrive.
